BLOGTOBER DAY 27 // AUTUMN FASHION

AUTUMN FASHION //

There are so many wonderful things to love about Autumn. But I think the most important would have to be the clothes. Winters in New York would make me hate sweaters, boots, and scarves by the time I could finally turn over my closet. But, no matter how much I loathed them, by September I was so ready to be bundled up. It's almost like fashion amnesia.
I don't ever really do fashion hauls on here because I do repeat pieces quite often (Homegirl got a tight budget) but I went and picked up a few new things I was excited to show you!

BLOGTOBER DAY 9 // FALL READING LIST

This summer I did so well at keeping a good pace with reading. I mean granted 75% of my summer reading consisted of all seven Harry Potter books (as well as Cursed Child)... but still, I was happy with myself. Then I made the slightly foolish decision to read all the Jane Austen novels after having loved rereading Pride and Prejudice. But honestly my heart wasn't as into it as my head was and since then I haven't picked up one book. NOT ONE!
It is so unlike me not to have at least three books on rotation at one time but something has really changed. I also feel like my attention span for things is less and less recently. For example, I can be really excited to watch a show but then lose interest half way through. Something is seriously wrong... HELP!

Soooooo this post is meant to start holding myself accountable. Maybe I won't read ALL of the books on this list but hopefully I can find the inspiration in one of them to get back into a good reading rhythm. Here are my picks for Fall Reading:

BLOGTOBER DAY 8 // FALL NATURE WALK IN THE MOUNTAINS

Switching the format up here just a tad bit! So the first weekend of October I escaped to the mountains for some tranquility and it was pure bliss. There was always something suffocating about living in New York. While the city was incredible in it's own magical way, the need to escape was always on my radar.
That is what the mountains in California (yes, there are many mountain ranges in California) allow me to do. Los Angeles is incredible, inspirational, and radiant but there is nothing quite like that first deep breath of crisp air. And, like a high percentage of bloggers out there, when you add a taste of Autumn in the mix it's the closest thing to paradise I have ever seen.

BLOGTOBER DAY 6 // HALLOWEEN PAST

Sometimes the nostalgia of holidays is incredible to think about. There are so many memories packaged into one day. All of the changes of your life can be marked by what you did that day a year ago, five years ago, or even 45 years ago. As a child, who was there holding your hand when you walked to the door? As a teenager, were you going to cheesy discos or still secretly trick-or-treating? As an adult, where are you headed on halloween night or do you sit by the door waiting for the new wave of children to come ask for sweeties?
There is so much power in holidays and sometimes those past memories can even make you feel sad or angry. Maybe you feel anxiety whenever someone mentions Christmas or New Years because old feelings from years past rise to the surface. Either way many of these holidays are milestones in your life. That's why I thought it would be fun to look back at old halloween costumes just as a little reminder of what I was doing at this time years ago!

BLOGTOBER DAY 5 // FALL DECORATIONS

I swear there is nothing better than a house chockablock with decorations. At every corner a festive celebration of the season. Don't let me fool you, Christmas decorations are definitely where I get the most intense. But fall decorations, with the golds and burgundy colors everywhere, give me that same warm and fuzzy feeling inside. Pumpkins, leaves, and don't even get me started on halloween decorations! My family does a special "Halloween" tree covered in skeleton baubles, cobwebs, and purple tinsel galore. But those decorations have yet to make their appearance. So for todays Blogtober I figured I had to do a little house tour of Autumnal Decorations. One day I hope to literally make my house like the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland for Halloween... A girl can only dream!

BLOGTOBER DAY 3 // FALL BUCKET LIST

I have absolutely LOVED starting a bullet journal. I think it is such a great way to be creative whilst staying organized. My planner is always jam packed with to do lists but definitely doesn't have a section to put all the books I've read this year. Amongst the pages I wrote down a Fall bucket list I found on Pinterest. I think it is definitely attainable and hopefully I can cross off some of them within the next month or two.
I also plan on doing a whole post on what I put in my bullet journal! Now if anyone can find me a good hayride in Southern California I would be set...

DRESSING FOR THE SEASON //

As I was sitting down to write this post my initial intention was to make it as Fall as possible. The funny thing about this season is that I had never really experienced a true Autumn until I moved to New York. No surprise here but... it quickly became my favorite season.
The humidity in New York would finally leave and in its place came a chilling air. The leaves in and around the city would become absolutely breathtaking. Don't get me wrong, Spring (after a long and freezing winter) is just as beautiful but it was Fall that stole the scene.
Now that I'm back in Los Angeles I am aching for a taste of real Fall. The weather here is a roller coaster that stays somewhere between 80 and 90 (27 to 32 Celsius) and it just really kills the mood. Wearing shorts half-way through October isn't exactly my ideal situation.
What usually happens, at least here in Southern California, is that people dress for the season and not the weather. It can be 85 degrees without a cloud in the sky and you can bet that there will be a woman with a turtleneck sweater drinking a hot pumpkin spice latte. It's quite hilarious I can't lie but you know what... I am culprit of this as well. So I am going to humor myself here and post some of my current favorite looks for Autumn that won't be too ridiculous to be wearing walking around the beach or in the stifling hot city.

AUGUST FAVORITES //

Welp. Bye August of 2016 it was nice knowin' ya! We are finally finally FINALLY in the month of September woo woo woo woo. I spent an incredible holiday weekend up in Lake Arrowhead and it was literally the perfect transition weekend into Fall. The air was chilled and when the fog rolls up the side of the mountain and spills onto the streets and houses around the lake it feels like you could be living in a cloud. I was able to wear my new bomber jacket (which shall be put in my favorites below!) and actually not feel crazy for bundling up.
We also went to the resort for a cheeky little massage and gaaahhh it was pure heaven! I think I will need to do a good post for Lake Arrowhead the next time I'm up there...
Without further ado here are my August loves
