Twin Peaks Travel Poster by Jazzberry Blue

If you haven't ever seen a David Lynch film I would suggest you watch one before giving Twin Peaks a go. He's a brilliant director and there is a ton of symbolism in every single character/plot/setting. With that being said he is not everyone's cup of tea... or coffee - watch the show and you'll get the joke.

THE HERO WE NEEDED - WONDER WOMAN REVIEW

DC

I'm either going to sound very nerdy - never a bad thing by the way - or very extra in this post. But I felt SO INSPIRED to get on here and write.

This past Friday I went to see the new Wonder Woman movie and I left feeling such a deep and honest connection to the film. I am a very big fan of Marvel films and less so with DC only because I love the brevity of Marvel's characters.

The Batman Trilogy was an exception to this sentiment but even they couldn't compare to the star-packed character ensembles of Marvel films. So, when I first heard that DC was creating a Wonder Woman origin movie I was less enthusiastic about seeing it.

If I could travel back in time and warn myself how wrong those thoughts were I would because holy-moly this film is a winner in every way, shape, and form. Wonder Woman is easily my favorite Super Hero film and it was seriously a long time coming.

Personal Time

I am a feminist in the sense that I love seeing women in empowered positions. I'm a "you go get it girl" type of person but - and that's a heavy loaded but - I am not a man basher.

I can watch Captain America or Iron Man and feel just as elated as I would if there were a Black Widow film. It's not solely about seeing a woman dominating in this scenario that made me feel so passionate.

More than anything it's about the type of woman that Diana (Wonder Woman) is in the movie. The world of the Amazon's was portrayed as a Utopian society. They were supportive and strong, something that you don't always see in women centered films.

They weren't afraid of their strength and I'm sure many would even qualify them as "manly." They had bodies that weren't starving but were instead jam-packed with muscle.  Being the tall woman that I am I have always struggled with appearing less feminine than the typical lady.

MAY MASTERPIECES

Who is this? Is this me? Coming here... with a blog post?

I can hear the roaring sounds of the audience in shock and awe.

I've left so much abandoned when I started my job. I've left so much of myself behind.

But I'm coming back now. I'm coming back to me.

GIFT BASKET // PRESENT IDEAS

It feels so good to be writing a post! In case you don't follow me on social I have finally, after months of searching, found an incredible job in the exact city I've always wanted to live in!

Finding my Normal // A Month without Blogging

Okay. How many posts have you read about people leaving and then coming back to blogging? How many "I did a digital detox" posts have you seen on your timelines? How many "why I lost my inspiration" can there possibly be out there on the internet?

GOAL CHECK IN & UPDATES // 1ST QUARTER 2017

It's officially April and that mean's we are a quarter of the way done with 2017. How this happened, I just don't know.

March was a super...interesting month for me. I quit my job mid-February and have been in the throws of job applications, interviews, and lack-of-income stress all month long. In some ways it's been really good for me. Here's why:

MY FIRST VLOG //

I know everybody was just in ruins that I didn't post last Saturday so I am sooooo sorry for that *lol*.

I actually had a post ready to go but for one reason or another the day came and I just didn't feel like posting it, promoting it, etc. I will definitely publish it eventually but there was something about this past weekend that stopped me.

Speaking of this past weekend (and what this whole post is about) I Vlogged! For the first time!

FAIL BAKING POST // VANILLA MACARONS

So flash-back to when I was sixteen and had hopes and dreams of going to culinary school. Of course once I realized I was NOT a great baker that dream slowly fizzled into a hobby.

I do LOVE to bake but I am not good at it, something about natural instincts in the kitchen I assume. I could follow a recipe to a tee and still find a way to muck it up.

MY DEFENSE FOR MILLENNIALS // A RANT

As millennials we are constantly appointed with the terms self-obsessed, over-sharers, or the all-about-me-monsters. And for better or worse they aren't wrong. In a world inhabited by Lena Dunham and Kylie Jenner there's no denying these traits are becoming more and more obvious.

Before I get all ranty I just want to say I'm clearly someone who also feels it's important to share my own personal voice with strangers. I use Twitter and Instagram to share even more snippets of who I feel I am. On top of that I have personal accounts for Instagram and Facebook (although I never really share on Facebook anymore) because I want to put something out there from my life that I found interesting, or funny, or sad, or just nice.

HAIR CARE // BLEACHED HAIR

Oh the wonderful world of hair.
As I said in my last post I decided to really shake things up after not having dyed my hair for almost two years. What's odd is that prior to those two years I would change my hair color every five to six months.

And I mean REALLY change my hair. Like from blonde to black to red type of change. I always felt like it freshened things up a bit and there is nothing more empowering than looking in the mirror and seeing a new you.

PERSONAL POST // CHANGE

I often write these posts and never publish them but I have a lot to say about what's been going on in life lately. Whether you've followed along with my blog or are a new reader, maybe you can find some similarities in this post as well.

I graduated from university last May and have gone through huge transitions in life. I moved from New York to California, transitioned to a different store for my job, & adjusted to life post-schooling. It's been really, really difficult to adjust to, I can't lie. And I never could have expected life after school to be this way.
