MY THOUGHTS // MENTAL HEALTH

If there's much to be proud of in the world now - and trust me there really ain't a lot - it would have to be the emergence of conversations about mental health.

So many bloggers, advocates, and companies are creating a dialogue about their own personal struggles with mental health or about the stigma itself. What this does is reach out to those who feel alone, feel lost, or feel helpless as well as educates those who may know someone struggling.

I think it's so beyond brave and strong for people to come out with their anxieties, depression, or ED. I know when I was in the throws of my personal ED I could only tell two people after months and months of suffering. But now I wonder if it would have gone differently had I seen/heard so many similar stories.

MY DEFENSE FOR MILLENNIALS // A RANT

As millennials we are constantly appointed with the terms self-obsessed, over-sharers, or the all-about-me-monsters. And for better or worse they aren't wrong. In a world inhabited by Lena Dunham and Kylie Jenner there's no denying these traits are becoming more and more obvious.

Before I get all ranty I just want to say I'm clearly someone who also feels it's important to share my own personal voice with strangers. I use Twitter and Instagram to share even more snippets of who I feel I am. On top of that I have personal accounts for Instagram and Facebook (although I never really share on Facebook anymore) because I want to put something out there from my life that I found interesting, or funny, or sad, or just nice.

BLOGGING TIPS // 200TH POST LOOK BACK

So the other day after posting my last blog post I noticed that it was, in fact, my 200th post. Which I think is a pretty great accomplishment and made me reflect on everything that's happened since my first post.

Going all the way back to 2012, my actual first post was a 25 before 25 checklist - which you can read here if you would like. At the time I was 18 and a very different person than I am now and I only have 12 of the items left on my list to check off.

PERSONAL POST // CHANGE

I often write these posts and never publish them but I have a lot to say about what's been going on in life lately. Whether you've followed along with my blog or are a new reader, maybe you can find some similarities in this post as well.

I graduated from university last May and have gone through huge transitions in life. I moved from New York to California, transitioned to a different store for my job, & adjusted to life post-schooling. It's been really, really difficult to adjust to, I can't lie. And I never could have expected life after school to be this way.

BREAKING BAD HABITS // A JOURNEY

I'll just come right out and say it, I am in no way, shape, or form perfect. Actually, I am very far from it. No matter how hard I try to control situations I am not ever going to behave exactly the right way. I won't always say the proper thing or react with the normal emotion. It's just not in my  DNA and that's just fine with me.

That being said I am not someone who doesn't think about the repercussions of my bad habits. Just because I do the things I stated above doesn't mean I don't understand that they can/should be altered. But I do often wonder who made the rules for what makes a bad habit?

BLOGMAS DAY 22 // MY FAVORITE 2017 PLANNERS

MY FAVORITE 2017 PLANNERS

By this time next week we will be going into our last few days of 2016. Thank. The. Lord. I am so over 2016's drama it is honestly beyond being annoyed.
The first half of 2016 was great. I thought to myself "this is going to be my year. I'm graduating and moving back to California. Nothing can stop me!" Flash-forward to my current reality... how naive could I have been.
But there is a bright side here I promise! It's that the time of NEW planners/calendars has arrived. I am such a sucker for planners. I keep everything in mine - although I do love my bullet journal - even now that I'm graduated.
It is so hard to pick a planner because I don't want to rush into it and regret my choice for the whole year. For example: this year I got an all white one. Beautiful in the beginning but after spending a year in my purse. Not so much as a speck of white is visible.
So here are my possible choices for planners in 2017!

BLOGMAS DAY 21 // PROCRASTINATORS GIFT GUIDE

PROCRASTINATORS GIFT GUIDE

Well look who it is, my old friend procrastination. We all do it, don't be ashamed. You thought "Oh I still have the weekend" or "Oh it'll be less crowded on this day. I'll go then." And little by little time creeps up on you until suddenly it's the week before Christmas, there's no weekends left, and you still haven't found the perfect gift for more than half of your family members.
Don't you worry, I did the same! That's why I'm here with a procrastinators gift guide. Who has time to sit and think about what you want to get somebody? You always end up asking your sibling what you think your mum would want anyways (Just me? Every year? Okay.)
So here's the last gift guide of blogmas dedicated to my fellow Christmas procrastinators.

BLOGMAS DAY 20 // MY GIFT WRAPPING TIPS & TRICKS

MY GIFT WRAPPING TIPS AND TRICKS

So I am definitely not calling myself an expert here in gift wrapping. Actually, it's almost the exact opposite. You see, me and gift wrapping are long time enemies. But, I also feel this makes me qualified to talk about my tips and tricks of gift wrapping.
It's not going to be your Martha Stewart Gift Wrapping Guide (because I did browse through that one earlier this week and who is actually going to buy extra supplies just to wrap a present -- t-shaped rulers?). But if you're like me -physically incapable of folding paper around objects- then this one's for you kindred spirits!

BLOGMAS DAY 18 // WHEN IT'S A WEEK BEFORE CHRISTMAS: A STORY

WHEN IT'S A WEEK BEFORE CHRISTMAS: A STORY

Let's have a little chat, shall we? Find some cozy socks, sit in a nice comfy chair, and treat yourself to a warm hot chocolate. Christmas, my friends, is one week away. One week and all this hectic parade of gifts guides, party outfits, and cookie recipes will be done.

BLOGMAS DAY 13 // WHITE ELEPHANT GIFT GUIDE

WHITE ELEPHANT GIFT GUIDE

Thought you weren't going to get another gift guide this Blogmas well GUESS AGAIN! I love white elephant parties specifically because I love to see what someone saw and thought this... this is what I'll bring.
Some people bring really great gifts, others bring absolute crap and they are both wonderful in their own way. I always love watching people fight over the best present because they don't want the poo emoji bracelet they got stuck with.
The worst white elephant present I ever received was at my mum's work Christmas party back in 2009. I got a freaking bobble head of a baseball player that I had NO clue about and was so disappointed. So that's why I'm preparing this list for you so that at least someone has been warned against purchasing gifts like sporty bobbleheads.

BLOGMAS DAY 10 // CHRISTMAS ON A BUDGET

CHRISTMAS ON A BUDGET

I don't want to proclaim myself as a penny pincher but let's just say I record everything that goes in and out of my bank account. Ever since I was little I have been very cautious of how I spend money. Now that I'm out of school, planning for the future is very important to me. But, of course, this is Christmas... so how do I keep things under control?

BLOGMAS DAY 8 // A CHRISTMAS RANT + PHOTOSHOOT!

A CHRISTMAS RANT + PHOTO SHOOT

Okay so this post is not going to be a rant per se. It's just going to be some of my musings on this time of year. This time that is supposed to be filled with warmth and compassion. A time when selfishness should be set aside. It's the last month of the year, shouldn't it be the best one?
